Rules 2022.
Rule 1. Format of Rinks
Three mixed rinks (at least one of each sex in every rink). If a club is unable to play 3 full mixed rinks, that club will forfeit a quarter of their shots on that rink. This applies to both league and Cup matches. The results card to be endorsed accordingly.
Rule 2. Scoring
2 Points per winning rink, 1 point for a draw, 2 points for the aggregate, making 8 points in total.
Any postponed matches usually due to weather to be played within one month of the original date, at a time and day to suit both clubs. All fixtures to be completed 2 weeks before the end of the season. If one club cannot meet the timescales indicated, they should concede 5pts to their opponents.
When a club postpones a game due to a shortage of players they should contact their opponents to ask if they can provide the players they are short, no subs can be skips. If they still cannot comply within the time limit above, they will concede 5pts to the opposition.
Rule 3. Matches
All matches shall be played under E.B.A. rules except as stated in these rules.
Matches to be played on alternate Saturdays and Sundays where possible as printed on the fixtures list published by the league secretary, commencing at 2.00pm. If any club cannot play on this date that club to contact opposition to agree a new date, so long as it is played within the deadline. The league secretary to be informed of the new date.
Each club will play a home and away match.
A game will consist of 18 ends, but in the event of bad weather the captains can agree before play commences to play fewer ends. Eleven ends constitutes a game. The captains can also agree whether to play trial ends. If they decide not to play trial ends only one shot will be awarded for the first two ends. If the game is abandoned, the score at the time of abandonment will be the result, provided at least 11 ends have been played on all rinks, and all ends played will be counted. If 11 ends have not been played the game will be re-arranged. This applies to both league and cup matches.
In addition if a player has to leave a rink due to illness/injury and no substitute is available, that rink will lose a quarter of the score for the remainder of the game,(not for the whole game) to be deducted when game concludes. If a substitute is available this may be male or female even if a mixed rink is not possible.
Rule 4. Knock Out Cup Trophy
A knock Cup competition will be arranged each year, and the first named club in the draw will be responsible for contacting its opponents to agree a date and time for the match to be played. Matches in each round to be played by the closing date of each round.
The result of the match will be the aggregate score, in the event of a tie at the end of 18 ends, all the rinks will play an extra end until a result is reached. A new toss for Jack to be made before the extra ends are played.
The final will be played on a date agreed at the A.G.M. and all clubs will host the final in alphabetical order, providing they are not in the final.
Rule 5. Champion’s v The Rest
At the end of the season the winners of Division 1 will host a match against a team comprising 2 members (1 lady 1 Gent) from each of the other clubs, making an end of season get together when trophies will be presented.
Rule 6.
The Annual General Meeting will be held in November, When Officers of the League, President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary will be elected, plus an Auditor.
The A.G.M. will also determine the annual subscription payable by teams in membership.
21 days’ notice of the date of the meeting shall be given to all member clubs.
Any motions for including on the agenda to be made in writing to the League Secretary at least 10 days prior to the meeting.
After Match Hospitality.
The home team will provide Tea & Biscuits after the match, but if a club wishes to provide more they can, but there is no obligation on the visiting team to offer the same for the return game.
